Between 1901 and 2021, the Nobel Peace Prize was given 102 times to 137 recipients, including 109 individuals and 28 organisations. With occasional exceptions, it has been given yearly since March 1901 to people who have contributed the most or the finest effort to international comradeship, the elimination or reduction of standing armies, and the organisation and promotion of peace congresses.

For their efforts to defend freedom of expression, which is a prerequisite for democracy and sustainable peace, Maria Ressa and Dmitry Andreyevich Muratov received the award.

The following is a list of the likely winners of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.

Volodymyr Zelensky

Actor-turned-politician Volodymyr Zelensky has gained notoriety around the world for defying Russian aggression and motivating his people to bravely defend Ukraine. It's been stated that praise from an enemy is something to treasure. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelensky, an actor-turned-politician, experienced something comparable in the past seven days.

President Zelensky, who is 44 years old and Jewish, is not a career diplomat or politician. Until 2019, he was an actor and comedian. He didn't win the presidential election in a landslide until 2019 though. He defeated incumbent Petro Poroshenko with 73% of the vote.

Veronika Bedenko, a citizen of Russia, told National Herald in an interview that "he is patriotic, courageous, and captivating."

Pratik Sinha and Mohammed Zubair

Based on selections made by the Peace Research Institute Oslo, predictions made by bookies, and nominations made public by Norwegian MPs, Mr. Sinha and Mr. Zubair are among the candidates for the award (PRIO).

According to a Delhi Police First Information Report, Mohammed Zubair was detained in June of this year for a 2018 tweet that was "extremely offensive and more than sufficient to stir feelings of hatred" (FIR). He was accused by the Delhi Police of promoting animosity between various groups based on religion and performing intentional acts to inflame religious sentiments. A month later, Mr. Zubair left Tihar Jail when the Supreme Court granted him release.

Members of the National League for Democracy, rebel organisations for ethnic minorities, and numerous fringe parties are represented. The NUG has been designated as an illegal and terrorist group by the State Administration Council, the nation's ruling military junta.

The NUG declared the establishment of a "People's Defense Force" in May 2021, followed by the beginning of a "defensive war" and a nationwide uprising against the military junta in September. As of September 2021, the NUG had representative offices in Australia, South Korea, the Czech Republic, France, Norway, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
